Sonnet LXXIV

Forget your Rolexes, those stupid shrines.
Don’t worship something that’s no use to you.
For monumental folly causes Time,
the foulest, dumbest measurement of fools.

Does Time exist? It sure as heck does not.
At least, not in my dreamy fantasies.
Now worn by Time itself I’m old and fraught
and use my dying breaths stain its creed.

It will be hard to loosen its domain,
which stretches all across a stricken world.
In spite of schedules and dull refrains,
let’s find mute solace from Time’s rapid purl.

How could the only live intelligence
succumb to this precisely sized pretence?

  1. Hey mike,
I think this sonnet is very interesting, because even though time is really just a stupid convention made by humans, its interesting how humans need it somehow and even use it in mathematical equations. So, good poem. And also congrats on writing 5 in one day ;)

  5. Hillary understands things very well :)

Um, about the date thing...each sonnet is a date of the year, so I haven't written enough to fill every day until now yet :)

A word is dead
When it is said,
Some say.

I say it just
Begins to live
That day.
